Welcome to Alishia Garcia’s Voice Studio. Below, I have outlined my studio policy. It is important to read thoroughly to be aware of all expectations.
Studio Expectations
-The voice lesson schedule is semester based, and lessons are held weekly. The semesters are Fall/Winter (Sept-Dec), Winter/Spring (Jan-March), Spring (April-June), and Summer (June-Aug). It is expected that each student’s lesson time be attended weekly at our agreed upon time throughout each semester.
-For the summer semester (the second week of June through the last week of August) students are encouraged to take weekly lessons, but due to vacations and events, it is understood that weekly lessons are not always possible. Students are required to attend 6 lessons throughout the summer to hold their spot in the studio for the fall. These lessons will be scheduled in the beginning of June.
-Lessons will be held on Holidays and non-school days unless otherwise stated. Notice will be given in a studio letter of all “closed” weeks for the studio for each semester.
-Lessons will not be held during Winter Break and Spring Break.
-It is understood that contact information (email, phone number, and lesson time) will be available to other students and parents to allow for lesson swapping when needed. Please let the teacher know if you have concerns about this.
-If music books, CDs, or other materials are borrowed from the studio, they will be returned at the following week’s lesson or a bill will be sent for their replacement.
Preparation and Practice
To ensure each lesson is productive and because we have limited time each week, it is necessary for students to come prepared for their lesson. This means the student must:
-Be at the lesson on time and ready to work hard (and have fun!)
-Bring music binder, pencil, and water bottle
-Have practiced the required 30 minutes every day
Performance Opportunities
There will be several performance opportunities throughout the year, such as recitals, Solo and Ensemble, and NATS Student Auditions. These opportunities are a big part of the curriculum, and all students are encouraged to participate and showcase the progress we make in weekly lessons. This participation strengthens a huge aspect of voice training- learning to perform.
Tuition
Tuition will be billed monthly for weekly lessons scheduled. Invoices will be sent via email during the last week of the month and payment is due the first week of each month in advance of lessons. Payments may be made through cash, check, Venmo, or on the studio website at alishiagarciastudio.com. There is a late fee of $10 per week that payment is not received.
30 minute lessons: $30
45 minute lessons: $40
60 minute lessons: $50
Studio Fees
Other fees surrounding music supplies and performances will occur throughout the year. These include but are not limited to: Accompanist fees for recitals, Solo and Ensemble or NATS Student Auditions, Sheet music and books, Solo and Ensemble or NATS participation fees, and recital fees.
Cancellation Policy
-Cancellation due to illness is expected by 9am the morning of the scheduled lesson in order to be issued a tuition credit. Notification must be given via email, phone call, or text message. Students are encouraged to attend their lesson even when feeling “under the weather”. There is much that can be studied and learned that does not involve singing if necessary. Please do not attend lessons with an active fever.
-Two weeks notification is required for any cancellation due to traveling, rehearsals, sporting events, and other situations that require absence. If cancellation is required for any situation other than illness without two weeks advance notice, the lesson and tuition will be forfeited. It is encouraged to switch lessons with another student via the student roster/calendar when possible.
-Absences due to forgetfulness or absences without any notice (“No Show”) will forfeit the lesson time and the tuition. If there are two or more “No Show” lessons in a year, that time spot will be re-assigned to a waiting list. Lesson times should be viewed as rented space in a calendar and will be treated as such.
-If the teacher needs to cancel lessons, you will receive notification by 9am the day of the lesson and a make-up day will be offered or a tuition credit will be issued.
-Notice of discontinuation of lessons must be given at least two weeks in advance of stop date. No pro-rating will be considered. It would be best to plan discontinuation at the end of a month to avoid forfeited lessons and fees.
-Two weeks notice is required if a long-term break from lessons is needed. At that point you will be put on the waiting list OR you can pay to keep your spot held open for your return.
